April 17, 1948, a group of 15 local men formed the charter for R.C.L.Branch 486. At that time, Bronte was a part of Trafalgar Township, so the Branch was named R.C.L Branch 486 Bronte Trafalgar. Bronte was eventually annexed and became part of Oakville. As a result of this, on June 6, 1975, the Branch was renamed R.C.L., General Chris Vokes Branch, in honor of Brigadier-General Chris Vokes, who served in the Italian campaign in WW2. Originally there was no Legion building so the meetings were held at the homes of the original members. In 1968, 20 men each loaned Branch 486 a sum of $2500.00, which was used to build the structure that we now use. These loans were all repaid. In the mid-'70s, women were given full privileges and allowed to come to the clubroom at any time. Branch 486 has always been called "The Friendliest Legion Branch" and The Branch members look forward to meeting visitors and new members in order to welcome them to our Branch. Branch 486 is located on the corner of Jones Street and Marine Drive, just one block from the Lake in Trendy Bronte.

Ottawa's Premier Yacht and Tennis Club Incorporated in 1887, BYC is one of the oldest yacht clubs in Canada. The well-protected harbour accommodates 250 keelboats. Dry sail facilities are provided for dinghies and small keel boats, and secure inside storage for sail boards, kayaks and canoes. In addition to boating, BYC also offers facilities and programs for tennis, youth, social and family activities. Royal Canadian Yacht Club was founded in Toronto in 1852 to serve both as a yachting recreational club and an unofficial auxiliary of the Royal Navy in the defence of the waters of Lake Ontario. We are one of Canada’s premier sailing and social clubs, with an emphasis on family participation, the development of our junior sailors, and a Corinthian attitude towards excellence in sailing. RCYC Members enjoy our lively Wine Dinners, Themed Family Nights, Heritage Events, Fitness speaker series, an Annual Summer Ball and many other Club Events. Anchored to the edge of Mimico Harbour on Humber Bay Park Road West in Etobicoke, Mimico Cruising Club (MCC) is a private yacht club nestled in a natural park within 10 minutes of downtown Toronto. Surrounded by the harbour, our venue provides a tranquil atmosphere with memorable views of the lake and city skyline. It is the perfect location for weddings and other celebrations as well as corporate or community meetings. Weddings can be held indoors or outside amongst the colourful gardens.  Dinner is served in our post-and-beam dining room where there is space for a live band.  With its panoramic views of the lake and wrap around second floor veranda, it is truly a beautiful setting. We can accommodate up to 120 guests. Wedding packages include: * Hot hors d'oeuvres * Four-hour open bar * Three-course gourmet, served meal * Unlimited wine with dinner * House tablecloths and napkins * All flatware and glassware * Bar and serving staff * All taxes and gratuities * Free parking There is no rental fee for the reception.  Setup fee for the ceremony chairs is $6 per person.  The average wedding cost at MCC is estimated to be between $100 and $140 per person for the ceremony and reception.
