Joining in the revitalization of the Grange, the Anglican Diocese of Toronto is undertaking the renewal and renovation of the St. George the Martyr location. St. George the Martyr has been a witness in the community for 173 years, serving the needs of the neighbourhood, offering a location for worship, and providing a space for artists and musicians. Members and staff of St. Paul’s Bloor Street have been involved in working with the people of St. George the Martyr for the past year, working toward renewal of the Church. While the parish is not being disestablished, there will be a “sabbath rest” from public worship for a season.  The last Sunday worship gatherings will be held on February 11th. The present worshipping community is preparing to find other welcoming congregations where they can worship. Over the coming months, the space will undergo a gradual transformation while still being available as a concert venue and for community events. We believe St. George will continue to be an integral part of the Grange community for decades to come. Once the facilities are stabilized and a full assessment of potential has been explored, we look forward to engaging with our neighbours as we plan for a future that includes worship, culture, service and outreach. The Hall is 36′ x 37′ in size (excluding the stage) and accommodates up to 110 people. It is available for weddings at a rate of $1,550.
