It’s been said that Glencairn is the closest you’ll come to Scotland without crossing the Atlantic. From the moment you pass the stone gates and wind your way between rock fences to the majestic multi-turreted clubhouse, you will feel like you just arrived at a Scottish links. Designed by Thomas McBroom, Glencairn’s 27 links-style holes are punctuated by steep pot bunkers and framed by fescue that waves menacingly in the ever-present wind that buffets the Halton Hills just west of Toronto. Burns (narrow meandering streams) cut through the heaving landscape of the Niagara Escarpment. You’ll have to be creative on the tight lies that surround the mammoth undulating greens. Afterwards, luxuriate in the castle-like clubhouse modeled after Scotland’s Muirfield, featuring brilliant photographs from three decades of Open Championship golf taken by award-winning photographer Doug Ball. Grab an ale in a cozy corner of the magnificently appointed Friar Pub or end your work week with a Friday night on the patio listening to one of the live bands that offer some sounds of the summer to savour with your delectable meal. Tangle Creek Golf & Country Club opened for golf in Barrie in 2002. Since then Tangle Creek Golf & Country Club has quickly gained recognition as one of the Premier Golf Facilities not just in Barrie, but the entire Greater Toronto Area. We were Nominated "Best New Golf Course" in Canada 2003 by Golf Digest and have been rated one of Canada’s Top 100 Golf Course by the Globe and Mail. The course was built on over 200 acres of rolling terrain, this all bent grass layout was designed by renowned course architect Rene Muylaert and was his last 18 hole course design. The course will satisfy every golfer's appetite. With four sets of tees, the course measures from 5,500 yards for beginners to 7,200 yards for the more serious player. The vision was to create Tangle Creek using the best characteristics of the classic and links style courses. The course features windswept fairways defined by strategic bunkering, mounding, grassy hollows and fescue. The course then transitions into a more traditional North American style with heavily forested holes, ponds, environmentally protected areas with immaculate course conditions. Built in 2006 our 22,000 square foot clubhouse is the perfect setting for golf tournament, weddings, banquets and meetings. This beautiful setting will seat comfortably groups ranging in size from 16 to 300 people. Our contemporary banquet rooms can accommodate up to 220 guests for a sit-down meal or up to 250 for cocktail receptions. Each of our banquet rooms is equipped with free wireless Internet access and we can provide AV equipment such as a microphone, display screen, and podium to meet your needs. As our guests, you'll also have access to the outdoor deck to enjoy the fresh country air and beautiful views of our grounds. Decorations You are welcome to decorate the banquet hall to suit your tastes. The halls are designed to be easy to decorate from minimalist table decorations up to full gowning of the entire room. You are limited only by your imagination. We only ask that you not tack or adhere anything to the walls. Music & Dancing You may arrange your own music. Please let us know of any special requirements from your music provider. The larger banquet rooms include a dance floor. Standard SOCAN and ReSound fees apply to all copyrighted music.
