Royal Canadian Yacht Club was founded in Toronto in 1852 to serve both as a yachting recreational club and an unofficial auxiliary of the Royal Navy in the defence of the waters of Lake Ontario. Heintzman House Auxiliary was originally comprised of volunteers living in Thornhill who were involved in the campaign to save the house from demolition. In 1971 the Heintzman House Auxiliary was formed and an annual craft show fundraiser was organized with all the proceeds going to the refurbishment of the Heintzman House.
